LONDON (AFP) – Leading shares climbed at the start of trade on Monday following strong gains in Asia.

London's benchmark FTSE 100 index rose 0.32 percent to 5,616.91 points.

The FTSE 100 had made solid gains on Friday as better-than-anticipated data from the US showed that unemployment levels had stabilised at 9.7 percent.
