W.House confident over June deadline for Fed picks (Reuters)

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (Reuters) – The White House is confident it will meet a June deadline for making appointments to fill vacancies on the Federal Reserve Board, spokesman Bill Burton said on Monday.

Burton, speaking to reporters on board the presidential plane Air Force One, said no decisions about the appointments had been made.

"As we've said, the goal is to make sure that there's an appointment before June," Burton said.

"We're confident we are going to be able to meet that deadline. But no decisions have been made."

Fed Vice Chairman Donald Kohn announced earlier this month he will retire in June. His departure means President Barack Obama has three seats to fill on the seven-member board of the U.S. central bank.
